Dr. Corry van der Ende, B.Sc

Dr. Corry van der Ende was born in the Netherlands and immigrated to Canada in 1951.  It was the death of her first dog in 1958 that kindled in her the desire to be a veterinarian Prior to pursuing a career in veterinary medicine Dr. Corry van der Ende was a registered medical laboratory technologist and worked at both the Royal Columbian Hospital and Langley Memorial Hospital in British Columbia. However her passion as a child had always been to become a veterinarian.

In 1973 she returned to Simon Fraser University to complete her Bachelor of Science degree and pre-veterinary medicine requirements. In 1978 she graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.  Upon graduation she worked in a busy small animal practice in Surrey for two years prior to starting Scottsdale Veterinary Hospital in 1980. This grew to be one of the first AAHA accredited veterinary hospitals in the area. Having adopted a retired show Boxer in 1978 and then purchasing a Boxer pup from a client in 1980, she became keenly interested in canine reproduction.

In 1995 she was trained in semen freezing by icg and in 1996 she flew to Oslo to acquire frozen Boxer semen from the Boxerhaven kennels and also to investigate the Norwegian transcervical insemination technique.  Later that year she was trained in the art of endoscopic transcervical insemination at the “Guide Dogs for the Blind” in New York.  At this time she was the only veterinarian in the Western Canada and the USA using the TCI technique. Utilizing the techniques of icg, the University of Oslo and the Guide Dogs for the Blind, she began actively freezing canine semen at Scottsdale Veterinary Hospital in 1996.

In 1999 she sold her shares in Scottsdale Veterinary Hospital and purchased Sunshine Hills Veterinary Clinic from the partnership.  This practice was sold in 2003 when Dr. Van der Ende traveled to the Netherlands where she practiced small animal Reproduction at the University of Utrecht. Returning from the Netherlands in 2004 she started Vetcor Canine Reproduction Services from her home.
